On June 17th, 16 journalists and experts from Pakistan visited China Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute (CERI) and gained in-depth knowledge of Huaneng’s scientific and technological innovation practices in promoting green and low-carbon development. CERI marked the first stop of "The Delegation of Pakistani Media and Think Tank’s China Tour" organized by the China International Publishing Group.

The delegation visited the Hydrogen Technology Laboratory, Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Laboratory, and Advanced Photovoltaic Research and Testing Laboratory. Through on-site explanation, videos, display boards, sand maps, and models, the delegation acquired the basic principles, technological progress, and application scenarios of technologies including green hydrogen development, CCUS, COAP, and perovskite photovoltaic power generation. Journalists and experts highly acknowledged China Huaneng’s scientific achievements and research talents. Senior journalist Javid Hossey from Pakistan’s 92 News TV Station said that China and Chinese enterprises are vigorously promoting the development of clean energy, fully considering global demands, international standards, and the requirements of modernization, thus Pakistan should follow China as an example.

After the lab visit, a discussion meeting between CERI and the delegation was held to exchange views and opinions on energy development, technological innovation, and ecological & environmental protection. The delegation stated that China Huaneng gained remarkable achievements in technological innovation in the energy sector, providing a referable technical solution to global green development. The delegation hoped that China and Pakistan could deepen cooperation in the field of clean energy.

CERI, one of the industrial companies of China Huaneng, is set as the R&D center for renewable energy technologies and offshore wind power, the intellectual property center, and the gathering place for high-level talents. The institute owns 14 national and provincial-level R&D platforms with more than 3,500 valid patents at home and abroad. The institute is one of the earliest companies in China to carry out CCUS capture technology research and engineering demonstrations. It led the formulation of China's first international standard in the field of carbon capture, and the "A Strengthened Regeneration System and Method for Carbon Dioxide Capture Solution" researched and developed by CERI won the Gold Award for Invention at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions.
