President Zhang Wenfeng Met with Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Khojaev


On August 8th, Zhang Wenfeng, President of China Huaneng Group, met with Jamshed Abdukhakimovich Khojaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, in Shanghai. The two sides had a friendly exchange on strengthening energy and power cooperation in Uzbekistan.

Zhang Wenfeng briefed on China Huaneng’s industrial layout, international business and project progress in Uzbekistan. Zhang Wenfeng stated that the friendship between China and Uzbekistan enjoys a long history. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev,the two sides have worked together to build the Belt and Road Initiative and promote the establishment of a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future, opening up broad prospects for practical cooperation in various fields. Uzbekistan serves as the key country in China Huaneng's overseas business layout. It is hoped that the two sides will join hands to promote the development of low-carbon and clean energy projects, and create an exemplary project for high-quality building of Belt and Road Initiative between China and Uzbekistan, contributing to Uzbekistan's green energy transition.

Khojaev expressed his gratitude to China Huaneng for its active engagement in Uzbekistan's energy transition and briefly introduced the country's energy development and foreign investment policies. Khojaev stated that the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative has provided large possibilities for practical cooperation in various fields between the two countries. He hoped that China Huaneng would fully leverage its advantages in management, talent, and technology in the power generation sector to bring stable and clean electricity to Uzbekistan and enhance the well-being of its people. The Uzbek side looks forward to further deepening cooperation with China Huaneng, gaining more practical achievements in the strategic cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in the energy and power sector, thus carrying forward and deepening the friendly relations between the two countries with concrete actions.

Before meeting with Khojaev, Zhang Wenfeng also had extensive discussions with Sherzod Khodjaev, the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Board, JSC Uzbekhydroenergo, on carrying out energy cooperation in various fields. All sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation, deepen mutual trust, and jointly strive to ensure the high-quality implementation of relevant projects.
